ABOUT WINDY RIDGE
Windy Ridge Alpacas is located north east of Strathmore AB, just 30 miles east of Calgary. We purchased our first alpacas in 1992 and with a few additions and the birth of many beautiful cria, our herd size is around 70 alpacas with 25 cria born annually. The herd consists of Chilean, Peruvian, American & Canadian breeding stock, as well as some exciting new Chilean/Peruvian crosses. Our Peruvian stock originated from the Allianza region of Peru. We have over 25 different bloodlines, this has enabled us to maintain a high level of genetic diversity with in the herd. We take great pride in our breeding and nutrition program which has been very successful for us.
Windy Ridge is situated on 11 acres of land over looking a beautiful valley. The name Windy Ridge was chosen for our farm because of all the chinook wind we seem to get here. Windy Ridge is a family run business. Owned & operated by: Clint & Linda Straub, daughter Denise, daughter Shauna Muenchrath, her husband Rodney, their daughter Charly Jade & their son Cooper Riley.
We really enjoy our alpacas and they have become a big part of our lives. At Windy Ridge we are committed to the industry and we believe strongly in giving our clients expert service and on going support. Our goal for the future is to continue to breed & raise alpacas of the highest quality. We are looking forward to the future and to the continued success of the Alpaca Industry.
It has been our vision from the very beginning to develop a breeding program that maximizes the genetics of the individual alpaca. The results are cria that surpass the quality of both the sire and the dam, thus resulting in a high degree of depth in herd quality and consistency.
